Self-compassion as antidote to Shame

Overview of the training

The training was a combination of the following elements.

  • Theme: Five steps toward self-forgiveness
  • Reflection: What do I forgive myself for?
  • Theme: Body dissatisfaction and body shame
  • Practice: Appreciating your body
  • Theme: Shame and core values
  • Practice: Transforming shame
  • Exercise: What would change if shame were no longer a factor in my life?

Competences acquired

As result of the participation in this training experience, Salem Islas-Madlo gained the following competences and professional skills:

1. Recognize and describe how shame appears in everyday life situations.

2. Identify and reflect on the roots of shame and its emotional dynamics.

3. Understand the relationship between shame and self-criticism, and how both influence self-perception.
